Ingredients:
1 medium head green cabbage, cored and chopped
6 slices turkey bacon, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper, to taste
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Directions:
Cook the turkey bacon: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the chopped turkey bacon over medium heat until browned and crisp, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
Sauté the onion: In the same pan, add olive oil or butter if needed. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 4–5 minutes.
Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly so it doesn't burn.
Add cabbage: Stir in the chopped cabbage. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, for about 10–15 minutes until the cabbage is tender and begins to caramelize slightly.
Season: Sprinkle with smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
Finish with turkey bacon: Return the cooked turkey bacon to the pan and stir everything together. Cook for another 2–3 minutes to heat through.
Serve: Serve warm as a hearty side dish or a light main.
